Our fabrics up Close…

Organic cotton

A more environmentally friendly material that we use in our 100% organic Caboo +organic range. It is grown using less water and without chemical fertilisers or pesticides.

Bamboo

We like bamboo for lots of reasons. It is a luxuriously comfortable cloth that is antibacterial, antifungal, hypoallergenic and naturally breathable to keep babies happier for longer. Its natural structure means it is cool in the summer and warm in winter. Bamboo is an ideal option for parents who are concerned about sensitive or allergy prone skin, or those who simply want an alternative to cotton or man-made fibres.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, growing up to 39 inches a day. It has an extraordinary capacity to absorb water which helps it to grow faster. The end result is an excellent wicking fibre, which is 3-4 times more absorbent than cotton. Bamboo is grown naturally, without industrialised farming. It is sustainable and thrives without pesticides or fertilizers. It is 100% biodegradable, cuts like grass and re-shoots without being uprooted which means it can grow in places where other crops are simply not viable. All things considered we think it is the perfect nappy material.

RPET

Recycled fibres are one way we can help to reduce waste and conserve natural resources and from 2020 onwards the waterproof fabric used in our entire Pop-in range will be made from RPET, a low impact polyester material that is made from recycled plastic bottles.

A circular future…

Recycling a PET bottle keeps it out of the landfill, but it does much more than that. Recycled PET resin is a valuable manufacturing feedstock that can be reprocessed and reused in bottles over and over again. Recycling instead of landfilling, then using that reprocessed PET material as a raw material for new products, greatly reduces the greenhouse gas and carbon emissions impact and requires less overall energy to produce the new product.

New PFC free water repellent component used in the whole Pop-in range too. Water and soil repellent, it keeps colours and fabrics looking newer for longer, allows fabric to dry more rapidly and is breathable too.

Plant-based Pop-in’s are here! (to be added on once this has launched)

Our Puffin print will be the first Pop-in nappy to use a plant-based bio waterproof laminate. It is petroleum free, using renewable plant-based materials made using a fermentation process which uses glucose derived from corn starch.
